bedtime story

I tell my daughter the same bedtime story every night.  Once upon a time there was a Princess named blank.  Princess blank had special powers, which included but was not limited to blank and blank.  Well it came to pass that one day Princess blank’s special powers of blank and blank would be put to a great test.  On this day, a mommy and daddy blank approached Princess blank.

“Help us!” They said frantically.  “Our baby was stolen by the evil blank!”

“Oh my Gosh!” said Princess blank.  “I will help!”

“But how?” the mommy and daddy blank worried aloud.  “The evil blank’s castle is very blank and extremely blank!”

“Not to worry” Princess blank replied. “For you see, I have the power of blank and blank and can therefore blank my way in to the castle.”

Sure enough Princess blank blanked her way into the evil blank’s castle even though it was very blank and extremely blank.  She found the baby of the mommy and daddy blank locked away in the blank.  Just as she managed to free the baby blank from the blank that held her, the evil blank entered the blank.

“Where do you think you’re going?” said the evil blank.

“I am rescuing this baby blank” Princess blank replied, “and there’s nothing you can do to stop me!”

“Oh yeah?” said the evil blank.  Just then he charged Princess blank aiming to push her out the window down to the blank below where she’d be eaten by a blank.  He would have succeeded too had it not been for Princess blank’s powers for blank and blank.  Princess blank blanked causing the evil blank to blank and fall out of the window into the blank below where HE was eaten by the blank.  Then Princess blank returned the baby blank to the mommy and daddy blank and everyone lived happily ever after.

This is the story I tell my daughter every night.  That is, I tell her this template, she fills in the blanks.  The story is always wonderful… and different.  Afterwards I give her a kiss goodnight and tell her I love her.  She says, “That was a good story, huh?”  “It sure was” I reply.  “What will tomorrow night’s story be about?” she asks.  “I don’t know” I say.  “My mind’s a blank.”
