I used to spend a good part of my day racking my brain trying to come up with that one million-dollar idea. Eventually it occurred to me that it would be easier to come up with a million one-dollar ideas instead.

A million-dollar idea requires some kind of expertise. And, no doubt, it takes a huge investment in time and money to be an expert at something. Sucking on the other hand is free and easy. I suck at things sometimes without even trying.

True, people won’t pay you a million dollars to come up with some sucky idea, but they might pay you a buck. So if you suck at a million different things… you just made yourself a million bucks.

I worked at Ben and Jerry’s a few years ago. I love their ice cream. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is a million-dollar idea! I came up with a sweet cream ice cream mixed with undercooked pieces of chicken. I called it Salvanilla. That’s a buck!
